Wine Country, Bavaria

This could have been aptly posted more than a month ago, when new wine was being tested and tried..! Still, being one of my favourite liquids of life, wine is pretty much always a subject to talk about, no? :)
As the sender wrote: in any town in Lower Franconia you can find a wine store, purchase a glass of local wine and enjoy sipping on it while overlooking the river Main. Now doesn't that just sound marvellous? Vielen Dank Svenja :)

Wine Grapes Harvest In Kakheti, Georgia

Local peasant carrying a godori (wicker basket):
in the background Chailuri or the Niakhura Fortress.

And here is one of the main incentives why to visit Georgia in October of all months :) It is the end of wine grapes harvest season - and Georgia is actually one of the oldest wine regions in the world. The fertile valleys and protective slopes of the Transcaucasia were home to grapevine cultivation and neolithic wine production for at least 8000 years. They have preserved their special traditional ways of making wine: UNESCO added the ancient traditional Georgian winemaking method using the Kvevri clay jars to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists.

Even though my wish was to take a few days for the Kakheti region and stay overnight in one of the villages, the tour company that did such a package didn't have enough people signed up to make it happen, and I had too little time to organise it on my own. So I've entered the office of an agency in Tbilisi to see if I can do something in a day - and sure enough I found a good deal, just me and a friendly gal from the Philippines with a local driver/guide, and off we go to Sighnaghi :) We visited the lovely Bodbe Monastery, a local museum, and of course the Pheasant's Tears winery for some wine tasting, yay :) It was a good day!

Buon Appetito From Piedmont!

The Xmas and New Year's celebrations are behind us, the time when we inevitably gain a few pounds because of all the fine foods we treat ourselves with...But we shall continue with at least a visual immersion into the world's gourmet delights :) Here represented the Langhe wine region in northern Italy's Piedmont. Cheese and wine, mmmm....thank you Gianluca :)

Cats And Wine Go Together?

And now something really cute for good night! One of my favourite cat cards, as this fella looks soooo cuddly...! The photo is supposed to make him look drunk but to me it seems he's just in the cuddling  mood and really loves the table heh. I say - cats and wine, excellent combo :)))

Someone reminded me recently about this 2FA-BE thing, something you write on the back in place of a stamp and the postcard actually arrives. I was using that a lot for a period of time when I just started collecting postcards and was a poor student - until my brother-in-law had to pay a fee for my postcard sent to him, oops :/ and now when I look at all those cards they look sad without stamps...I am not inspired to use it again :)

UNESCO - Douro Valley, Portugal

This is my second card of Douro Valley, but a different and still enjoyable view :) The Douro vinhateiro is the area of the river valley in northeast Portugal concentrated on production of wine, especially the world-renowned fortified wine port. I have never tried port but would really love to! (surprise surprise, heh)
Love the Portuguese stamp design. Thank you Lotty, I really like your choice of card :))
