European Hare

A lovely maxi-card from Heidi showing the European hare, which seems apt be posted while the spring is raging outside (though is it really? Part of spring is rain, and is not in sight for ages).

Generally nocturnal and shy in nature, hares change their behaviour in the spring, when they can be seen in broad daylight chasing one another around in fields. During this spring frenzy, they sometimes strike one another with their paws ("boxing"). This is usually not competition between males, but a female hitting a male, either to show she is not yet ready to mate or as a test of his determination.
You go girl lol

Saaremaa, Estonia

Saaremaa is the largest island in Estonia, measuring 2,673 km², located in the Baltic Sea. Its territory has been inhabited for at least 5000 years. The capital is Kuressaare, also famous for its medieval castle - which was originally built in wood between 1338 and 1380, and is on Unesco tentative list.
Kaali is a small group of nine unique meteorite craters on Saaremaa - the largest one measures 110 meters in diameter and contains a small lake known as Kaali järv. Fable-like!

UNESCO - Historic Centre of Tallinn, Estonia

The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is an orthodox cathedral in the Tallinn Old Town, built in in a typical Russian Revival style between 1894 and 1900, during the period when the country was part of the Russian Empire.

The Tallinn Town Hall (Tallinna raekoda) is a building in the Tallinn Old Town; it is the only intact gothic style town hall in the Northern Europe. The first recorded mention dates from 1322. Its present form dates from 1402–1404, when the building was rebuilt.

The first wall around Tallin was ordered to be constructed by Margaret Sambiria in 1265 and for that reason, it was known as the Margaret Wall. The walls were enlarged and strengthened in the fourteenth century;  many gates are still largely extant today.

Both of the Europa: Astronomy stamps from 2009 were used; dedicated to the eminent Estonian astrophysicist Jaan Einasto who is one of the discoverers of the large-scale structure of the Universe. Another thanks for...:)

Ural Owl, Estonia

This beautiful bird is a Ural Owl, found in Europe and northern Asia. It usually occupies open woodland, prefers moist to dry areas and nests in hollow tree trunks. It can be aggressive and attack humans esp if the youngs are around! But the calling is soft and deep :)
Thanks to Eda/Pihlakas and animals offer tag :)
