Melbourne Tram, Australia - Wooden Postcard

Gosh, has it been two and a half months already...I've been doing some scanning, and so I shall have enough material to post when I go to isolation, once AGAIN. Despite a much slower pace at exchanging postcards lately, I have managed to collect 60+ different countries throughout last year, though somewhat strangely Australia was not one of them...My only exchanges this year are actually not exchanges, but I have discovered a lottery group on FB, so you kind of 'bid' for a card you like, and if you are lucky enough to win it, you offer your own, and so it goes. It will probably keep me going for a bit, and then I'll move to something else lol my restless self.

Anyways! This was sent many years back, a proper thick wooden card :)) 

Tea Postcard

 

Every now and then I like to send myself/my family a bit of a different postcard, be it in shape, size, material or content. As I was visiting a museum in Hamburg last month I stumbled upon this tea postcard - there is actual tea inside. It says: There is much Love in here! And the typical blue-on-white design of the German (and Dutch) north, especially for tea sets. There is always extra contentment when such postcards arrive as they also cost extra to send.

Côte d'Azur Sand Postcard

Nine years may not seem that long ago in postal time, but to me it's like a different age...just starting to discover forums, FB groups...It was a time of no special swaps and no special postcard series...one of my first swap buddies was Deborah from France whom I've 'met' on FB. Sadly this was the last card she sent me before 'retiring' from postcrossing due to increase of postage rates. It is the only postcard I have to this day with actual sand in it - I wonder if its really taken from the beaches of Côte d'Azur..! And such a cute stamp, with the little cows also saying 'what a cute stamp' lol. And yes the hand cancellation, can't find them so easily these days in some 'mechanised' countries.

One of those unusual postcards worth having in one's collection, and I haven't even swapped for it - it was a surprise lottery card :D Danke Flo!

UNESCO - Cultural Landscape Of Sintra, Portugal

In the 19th century Sintra became the first centre of European Romantic architecture - the cultural landscape of the Serra and the town represents a pioneering approach to Romantic landscaping that had an outstanding influence on developments elsewhere in Europe. It is a unique example of the cultural occupation of a specific location that has maintained its essential integrity as the representation of diverse successive cultures.

I wish I had more time to explore this area, that is why I am almost certain I will go back to do a proper tour. It was a murky day and I have visited the town and the Moorish Castle, even though the Pena Palace is far more recognisable. I've enjoyed the kind of a fairytale setting and atmosphere :) The second postcard is made of cork and shows the Regalaleria Palace. Alas both cards weren't cancelled...something the Portuguese Mail seems to struggle with.

My 1st and only wooden postcard! I've chosen it while in Melbourne but left it for Ash to post it. I soon forgot about it (naturally, heh) so the element of surprise was still there when it arrived in my mailbox :)))
