Osogovo Monastery, Macedonia

Osogovo Monastery is a Macedonian Orthodox monastery located near Kriva Palanka, Republic of Macedonia, 10 kilometres from the Bulgarian border on Osogovo Mountain. It consists of two churches including the larger "Saint Joachim of Osogovo" and the smaller "Holy Mother of God." The monastery grounds also consist of a bell tower, dormitories, a guardhouse, and a residency for the Head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church.
Ana suggested to include this place during my next trip to Macedonia, and I can see why - its a gorgeous setting! I also really love the orthodox church art, like the icon on the stamp. E Ana...stvarno bi trebalo...ali zasad držimo se norveškog plana :D

UNESCO - Natural And Cultural Heritage Of The Ohrid Region, Macedonia

Situated on the shores of Lake Ohrid, the town of Ohrid is one of the oldest human settlements in Europe. Built mainly between the 7th and 19th centuries, it has the oldest Slav monastery (St Pantelejmon) and more than 800 Byzantine-style icons dating from the 11th to the end of the 14th century. Ohrid is one of only 28 sites that are part of UNESCO's World Heritage that are both Cultural and Natural sites.
The first two postcards show the picturesque Monastery of Saint Naum, an Eastern Orthodox monastery from the 10th century. It is situated along Lake Ohrid, 29 kilometres (18 mi) south of the city of Ohrid. My bad luck was that the local Tourist Information Centre gave me a wrong timetable for the buses so I missed my bus by 5 minutes :( and there were too few and far between...Nevermind, I plan to go back one day, as Ohrid is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen <3>The local PO had a great selection of stamps, yay! Not to forget, many thanks to dear Ana for great company! xx

St. Panteleimon Monastery Complex, Macedonia

The Church of St. Panteleimon in Gorno Nerezi is a small 12th century Byzantine church located in a monastery complex; its impressive frescoes are famous examples of Comnenian Age Byzantine Art. Ana says this place is not far from Skopje and is a great place to get the panoramic view of the capital. Hvala bossita, obožavan ovakvu arhitekturu :)))

Traditional Clothing Of Mariovo, Macedonia

This lovely postcard of the Macedonian traditional clothes was sent to me by a very dear postcrossing friend Ana from Skopje :) Complete with the brilliant stamps showing ancient coins with the images of Alexander the Great and his father Philip II of Macedon. Thank you Ana for this great 'package'! :)
The national clothes is from  Mariovo, the mountainous area in the Macedonian south. Its a sparsely populated countryside with picturesque villages that nurture their tradition and folklore. It sounds like a perfect place to visit to get away from the urban chaos :)
