Mucha - The Times Of The Day

I have seen a few of these separately but had no idea they come under the same title: The Times of the Day (1899): The Morning awakening, Brightness of Day, Evening contemplation, Night's Rest.

Alphonse Mucha In His Atelier

Mucha is one of my favourite artists, and here is a photo showing his atelier where all those great works of his came to life. Eliška seems to be quite the artist herself, at first I thought the dragon was printed on the postcard (it wouldn't made sense but its so nicely done) but it was done by her, great stuff!

Mucha - Pole Star

This is almost the true size of the stunning Mucha decorative panel postcard from the series The Moon and the Stars from 1902, representing the Pole Star. 'The figure appears to be sheltering from the bright light resonating at the centre of the composition.' Simply loving it, thanks so much Liba!

Mucha - Flower

Alphonse Mucha created Flower in 1897. The stamp on the right shows the Common Rock Thrush, a medium-sized but stocky representative of its family. They are strongly migratory, all populations winter in Africa south of Sahara. Looks cute, thanks Marta :)

Mucha - Posters

More Mucha art in my collection to show :) The first is a theatre poster going under name of 1918-1928 Prague, and the second the advertisment for Bleu Deschamps, apparently a whitening agent. Ellen used a variety of lovely stamps - the ones to the right being esp colourful. Mucha - Byzantine Brunette

 

This unexpected find in a toy shop in Munich is from a set of two called Byzantine Heads, the other half being a blonde. They are decorative panels from 1897 where women wear highly ornate jewellery in their hair, which is evocative of Byzantine design. Love the colourful stamp dedicated to one of the best-known German artists and children's book authors Janosch, as on the previous lizard postcard :)

Mucha - Champagne Ruinart

Its been a while...since my last Mucha post. The champagne posters are among my favourites, as is the Sarah Bernhardt series from the stamp :) I have received this a while ago by lucky tagging, and thanks to surenka :)

Official - Princezna Hyacinta, Mucha

The lithograph (1911) was printed to advertise Princezna Hyacinta, a fairy tale ballet and pantomime by Ladislav Novák and Oskar Nedbal, an acclaimed Czech violinist.

The fairy tale follows a blacksmith who dreams that his daughter is a princess kidnapped by a sorcerer. In the design you can see hearts, the blacksmith's tools, a crown and instruments of sorcery all referring to the plot. The motif of the hyacinth is used throughout the design, from the embroidered robes to the silver jewellery as well as in the circular object held by the princess.

Its been a long while since I've received a Mucha, and this wonderful surprise arrived from Taiwan, accompanied with great stamps. Thank you Apple! :)

Mucha - La Plume

A stunning portrait from 1899. It appears to be a half of a 2-part panel set (the other one being 'La Primavere'). I was just thinking how i'd love to buy a Mucha print for my new place - but how do i choose which one..?!

Mucha - Seasons: Winter

I am being puzzled with Mucha's seasons - there seem to be three sets altogether..? The best known is the 1896. series; this one is from the 1900. As all are equally beautiful it doesnt really matter :) But am hoping to find an online gallery with all his works!

Mucha - Lefèvre-Utile

Lefèvre-Utile (LU) is a brand of French biscuits, emblematic of the city of Nantes. The brand was founded in 1846; since 2007 it  is part of Kraft Foods.

Mucha did the lithograph for Lefèvre-Utile biscuits in 1896 - the whole picture is in my favourites :) this is a detail of that lithograph with different design for petites gaufrettes vanille - small vanilla wafers. yum :)))
