Paramaribo, Suriname

This might be Unesco i.e. the Historical Inner City but I am not really sure..! In any case a lovely view, really love this card :) Even the lack of stamps doesn't cause a stir because this cancellation is quite interesting. Heel hartelijk bedankt Jo ;)

Green Greetings From Suriname

What a fantastic card! So green and, well, so reptiley :) Showing the  emerald tree boa, Surinam horned frog and Giant Ameiva (though not giant in itself, growing up to 50 cm). Now most of you will think among the three the boa is the bast*rd but hear this about the frog: they prey upon the other species of horned frog, and the tadpoles attack each other (and tadpoles from other species) soon after being hatched. Nice!

Happy 5th anniversary Cheryll, and thank you for celebrating by sending me this card, I just LOVE it :))

 

UNESCO - Historic Inner City Of Paramaribo, Suriname

Paramaribo is a former Dutch colonial town planted on the northern coast of tropical South America, which is now a capital of Suriname. The original characteristic street plan of the historic centre remains intact, and illustrates the gradual fusion of Dutch architectural influence with traditional local techniques and materials.

Paramaribo began when Fort Zeelandia was built in 1667 at the place of British Fort Willoughby.

Brokopondo Reservoir, Suriname

This looks like an idyllic islet somewhere in the Caribbean doesnt it? Well its close enough - but is actually located on Suriname's largest reservoir, and one of the largest in the world. Its full name is Professor Doctor Ingenieur W. J. van Blommestein Meer, and is also called the Brokopondostuwmeer.  Many thanks to Cheryll, this was my first w&s card from Suriname and I was ecstatic :)))

(Love the cute bird, some kind of parrot? Couldnt find it..!)

Iguana From Suriname

After a splendid surprise from Curaçao another handsome iguana landed in my mailbox :) This time Cheryll found the card in a local store and thought of me, it made me very very happy thank you xD
