Emirates Palace

The Emirates Palace (Arabic: قصر الإمارات) is a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Built as a landmark showcasing Arabian culture, Emirates Palace offers luxury hospitality. Situated on 1.3 km of private beach and surrounded by 85 hectares of gardens and lawns, with 114 domes that are 80 meters high, Emirates Palace comprises 394 rooms and suites. Based on its luxury, it describes itself as going "beyond 7 star".
All this considered, I don't think I even have to check the prices to know that I will never in my life be able to afford to stay there :) Thank you Ritz (your name is very apt here)!

Camels' Love

I felt like something sweet today, and I found this card which arrived about a year ago, sent by Weny (thank you!) who also asked me if I've ever tried camel's milk chocolate? No, I can't say that I have!

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi, UAE

As the country's grand mosque, it is the key place of worship for Friday gathering and Eid prayers. During Eid it can be visited by more than 40,000 people. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates and the eighth largest mosque in the world;  it was initiated by the late president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who wanted to establish a structure which unites the cultural diversity of Islamic world, the historical and modern values of architecture and art.
Great choice of card, as of the commemorative stamp issued for Dubai Crown Prince this year. Many many thanks Weny!

Camels, UAE

Even further back in time I moderated an RR, and of course there was an animal theme group :) And it was the first time I swapped with Lila, now in reverse my moderator in one of the few RRs I participate in. The postcard says 'Camels in Dhofar', and when I looked it up it turned out that Dhofar is a governorate in Oman! But the card is nevertheless printed in the UAE. I melted upon seeing the stamp, gorgeous :)) Thank you Lila!

Al Ain, UAE

Al Ain is also known as Garden City - it is surrounded by seven oasis fed by natural springs. There is a testimony to numerous prehistoric cultures, notably from the Bronze Age and the Iron Age; for example circular stone tombs (ca 2500 B.C.), wells and a wide range of adobe constructions.  Hili moreover features one of the oldest examples of the sophisticated aflaj irrigation system which dates back to the Iron Age.
These are all descriptions of the UAE's only Unesco site - but upon closer research I have concluded that these postcards couldnt qualify for my collection...nevertheless its great to have them, thanks Ayn :))
