Autumn Kittie

And so the spring is gone, and the summer...my favourite season just behind the corner. I have been busy with work but also with cats - in all, three kittens found in terrible state, nurtured back to health and adopted, which is more than I could ever hope for, stuck on this island. The rest need to be neutered, and oh how I wish I could get more adopted - but they are either too old, too feral or too black...Anyhoo, here is a handsome tomcat from Finland :)

Touchnote

Does anyone remember the Touchnote craze? Anyone doing postcrossing (back in...2012 was it?) must do, as Touchnote page did a promotion that lasted for weeks, enabling us to send each other any image on a postcard for free...of course they are not regarded (by many) as 'true' postcards, but it was fun :)

As I am trying to sort out my collections these days (with emphasis on 'trying') I am going through all of my shoe boxes, often not knowing what's in them lol. So, for example, I totally forgot that I have received a postcard from Eswahili/Swaziland some years ago, so it is still on my list of missing countries 😅. Some postcrossers I remember fondly from the 'busy' postcrossing era about a decade ago...I have joined the forum again, have seen some familiar 'faces' but missing some others...There seems to be a lesser variety of countries too, and some RRs that I used to participate in are now gone. Still, excited to send and receive again :) And here are some Touchnote examples: my favourite band (though I'm definitely breaking some law by using this image, gulp!), a donkey photographed during my trip in Jordan, and of course my kitties 💓

Cat Astronaut

A great kitty card coming from the USA, thank you Arnold :)
In addition I could post photos of all the different cats I have encountered this season - but would it be too much..? One thing I'm sure of - they've always brought a smile to my face, even if I only spotted them running away from me lol

Bratislava Cats

My last trip before this 'new era' was a short bus adventure through central Europe, and in each city I visited I went to a Cat Cafe - Vienna, Bratislava, Warsaw, Krakow and Prague. The last time I visited Vienna and Prague was 12 years prior to, and the remaining three were my 1st time, yay :) The Mackafe in Bratislava was the real deal, and there is merchandise sold to support it, which surprisingly isn't that common for a cat cafe...I think its a great way to additionally support such places. I mean, like this cute postcard :)

I post this in relation to my day...as I got quite a scare today. I have two cats, sisters Pixie & Suri, who were found in a dumpster by my friend, together with other three siblings. They were teeny weeny things not yet able to open their eyes...but my friend is fierce and she helped them all grow strong and independent. That was almost 12 years ago...Suri is a placid cat but Pixie is a bit naughty...I didn't see her all day, which was very unusual for her, and as the night was falling and she wasn't showing up to get fed I got really worried, walked around the block calling her. As I came back home there she was, and my mum told me she was in a box in the storage room and she couldn't get out. But she didn't make a sound the whole day as we were calling her. Cats are weird! lol I was just so relieved, and she was extra cuddly. Right after she had some food of course! Ah, all's well that ends well. A huge stone fell off my heart, as we would say. And here is a kittie from Mackafe:

Lviv Cat

Its funny to recall that a 'long time ago' I was discussing with Ana the existance of 'Postcrossing fairies' i.e. people who repeatedly surprise us with cards...and now Ana has become one for me, always finding a place in (traveling) mailboxes for cards with my address on them...in this case I really didn't know what to stare at more, the front or the back! Hvala bossita :))

Purr

These days are all about cats...There were three, and then there were five, but presumably even more...There are a lot of unwanted kittens this time of year, trying to find their forever home. Here's hoping they all find good hoomans to look after them, so they can be rewarded with lots and lots of purrs...
This Postallove card was in my favourites, thank you Marion :)

Scottish Wildcat

'Britain's population of this very rare native carnivore found mainly in the Scottish Highlands, is only around 100. Inter-breeding with the large population of feral domestic cats poses a serious threat to the future purity of the species and its survival'

Beautiful creature isn't it? As sad as it is that the purity of the species is in peril, I'd be happy to know all cats, feral and domestic, pure or mixed breed, are appreciated and well taken care of. There used to be the time when you knew February is the month for cats to mate, but now they mate all year round, and many feral cats have kittens basically non-stop, like some sort of breeding machines :( Sadly in my surroundings (and generally in more 'southern' cultures) it is still acceptable not to spay cats despite this problem...Will people as a race ever improve in this regard, I wonder.

Gata De Las Islas Canarias

Looking at the dates I realised that I was in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria the day before Xmas (the day after La Gomera) but I have nothing to show for it except a few mobile phone photos and a proof of using wi-fi in (what I believe to be) a snack bar..! That said, I am sure many more memory holes like this will ensue. I do remember it being really windy...then I have some images flashing in front of my eyes and I ask myself, did this really happen so early in the time spent on the ship? Everything is like a big muddy mess inside this head of mine. In retrospective I do regret not keeping a proper diary. Anyways! As I was saying, I really missed not seeing any animals for longer periods of time, and thats probably why I succumbed to this gorgeous little face :)

Greek Cats

Great GREAT card from dear Ana!! I have received it a month ago and failed to let her know....so here is a huge T*H*A*N*K  Y*O*U here! *blush*.
To be honest, I haven't even thought about postcards for more than a month...since I am on the break, and now it seems like it may even be a more permanent thing...I just think to myself 'wow, I never thought it may come to this'. Its a strange feeling, as I used to get so much joy from exchanging postcards. maybe its still early days to conclude anything, lets see..!

Grumpy Cat Philosophy

I've been a fan of the Grumpy Cat on Facebook for ages, but only now will I learn more about him...So far I only knew that some of his philosophies were close to my heart lol. Thanks for this one Michaela!

Tardar Sauce (born April 4, 2012 in Morristown, Arizona), is a cat and Internet celebrity known for her grumpy facial expression, and thus known by the common name Grumpy Cat. Her owner, Tabatha Bundesen, says that her permanently grumpy-looking face is due to an underbite and feline dwarfism. Grumpy Cat was featured on the front page of The Wall Street Journal  and on the cover of New York magazine in 2013!

Café Cat, Paris 1975

One of the favourite cards I've received lately, also because it is kind of personal...Kiitos Marko ;) You see, I dream of owning my own cafe, and lately the thought has been visiting my mind more frequently, so much so I am looking at the legal predispositions. Exactly this kind of cafe, though you can't see much of it, but can imagine the quaint parisienne air about it...The cat of course is a bonus, and cat cafes are quite a craze these days :) I have stumbled upon one in Bangkok quite accidentally..! Hmm why not add a photo? This lady is taking a good care of the little ones :)

A Man With A Cat

I dare myself to reach the number of 1000 posts by the end of this month, and hopefully 25000 views! Then I will peacefully slide into the winter break, with occasional posts...(I hope to still participate in Sunday Stamps).
I have almost melted upon seeing this postcard! And that is all I will say, the image says more than a thousand words here :)) Thanks so much Deborah xD

Gayer-Anderson Cat, UK

A replica of the Gayer-Anderson Cat, an Ancient Egyptian statue of a cat made out of bronze, from the Late Period, about 664-332 BC. It is a representation of the cat-goddess Bastet and wears jewellery and a protective wedjat amulet. It is presented in the British Museum, here a photo-shoot with a long-haired blotched tabby :)

Vampire Cats

As my sis would say, vampires are popular these days ;) Though the first cat looks quite disturbed on more than one level..! I'd prefer thinking of cats as lazy, cuddly creatures :) I have many scans waiting to be posted, among them many from sis - the motto is 'a few posts a day chases the bloggin' blues away'

Cats And Wine Go Together?

And now something really cute for good night! One of my favourite cat cards, as this fella looks soooo cuddly...! The photo is supposed to make him look drunk but to me it seems he's just in the cuddling  mood and really loves the table heh. I say - cats and wine, excellent combo :)))

Someone reminded me recently about this 2FA-BE thing, something you write on the back in place of a stamp and the postcard actually arrives. I was using that a lot for a period of time when I just started collecting postcards and was a poor student - until my brother-in-law had to pay a fee for my postcard sent to him, oops :/ and now when I look at all those cards they look sad without stamps...I am not inspired to use it again :)

Audrey Loves Animals

Yes Audrey Hepburn is a charming lady - but even more so when showing affection for animals :) Especially the cutest little donkey foal!
Private swap with Olga/kAchirka, thank you :)

Land's End, Cornwall, UK

Land's End in west Cornwall is the most western point on the mainland of Great Britain. The length to the northmost point John o'Groats in Scotland is 874 miles/1407 km.
And of course Ash was there :)
