Autumn Kittie

And so the spring is gone, and the summer...my favourite season just behind the corner. I have been busy with work but also with cats - in all, three kittens found in terrible state, nurtured back to health and adopted, which is more than I could ever hope for, stuck on this island. The rest need to be neutered, and oh how I wish I could get more adopted - but they are either too old, too feral or too black...Anyhoo, here is a handsome tomcat from Finland :)

City Of Münster, Germany

Münster is an independent city and a cultural centre of the Westphalia region, northwestern Germany. Its origins go back to the 8th century when a church and a cloister were built on the right bank of the Aa river; by the Middle Ages the city became an important member of the Hanseatic League. Today it is thriving with students from all over Germany and the world.

These are more recent cards I've received, and you know how? I won a lottery, and yes for both cards! On top of that, amazing mini-sheets were used as postage. Many thanks go to Frank :)

Wooden Angel

One of those unusual postcards worth having in one's collection, and I haven't even swapped for it - it was a surprise lottery card :D Danke Flo!
P.S. Of course I will keep the card intact as nice words are written on the back

Vietnamese Old Woman

I have received this wonderful card via lottery. What is the feeling you get when looking at this face? I see hard work, wisdom and calm. For some reason a word 'miserable' was typed on the back, but this is not the apt word, or at least it shouldn't be! Only kind words should supplement this photo. Thank you Ta Tan Dat :)

Patagonian Fox, Argentina

I have one this cute fox postcard in a lottery, how lucky :) Many thanks to Ana for organizing it.
The South American gray fox (Lycalopex griseus), also known as the Patagonian fox, the chilla or the gray zorro, is a species of Lycalopex, the "false" foxes. It is endemic to the southern part of South America. It is actually a small canid, measuring 65 to 110 centimetres in length. It is a largely solitary animal that has long been hunted for its pelt.

UNESCO - Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve, Guinea

Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve is a protected area and UNESCO World Heritage Site in both Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire. A further extension of the reserve to include areas in Liberia has also been proposed. The park includes significant portions of Mount Nimba, a geographically unique area with more than 200 endemic species. These species include multiple types of duikers, big cats, civets, Chimpanzees, and several types of viviparous toads (the latter probably depicted in the down left corner of the postcard).
I had to look up 'viviparous'..! It means that the development of the embryo happens inside the body of the mother, eventually leading to live birth. Cool, I had no idea there are such toads :)
This card is awesome on so many levels - it is my 1st w&s postcard from Guinea, its the country's only Unesco site, I have won it in a lottery and its sooo green! Oh and the stamps are great and cancelled; thanks so much Madeleine!!

Selje Abbey, Norway

Lets stay up north for this untypically vertical panoramic card, a stunning view of Selje Abbey situated on the island os Selja off the south-western Norwegian coast. This fomer Benedictine monastery was founded in about 1100 and was dedicated to Saint Alban. It was the location of the original shrine of Saint Sunniva (the patron saint of Western Norway) who was believed to have been martyred here, and therefore became an important pilgrimage site. Sadly a disastrous fire in 1305 gave the abbey a blow from which it never recovered...
I was sooooooooo happy to have won this card in a lottery, many thanks to Jørg! :)))

Pippi Långstrump, Sweden

The Pippi Langstrumpf card - complete with matching stamp! - was sent to me from a postcrossing meeting in Stockholm :) thanks to Anja from Germany! I hope they all had a wonderful time; I so hope to participate in one of these meetings soon...at least a small Croatian one :)
I guess Pippi Langstrumpf/Longstockings (written by Astrid Lindgren) is one of the most popular characters from children's classic books. I remember dressing up like her during the carnival, and jumping around leading the parade! Sometimes i wonder at myself for being so brave heh.
