Starting off this week with this lovely view of the fishing village La Galera, part of the Juan Griego urban area situated on the north coast of the famous Isla de Margarita. Sent by dear postcrossing friend Luis Alberto, many thanks for this possibly last postcard from Venezuela I'll receive for a while...Things have been extremely rough for the people of Venezuela in the last years, and I can only hope this will resolve soon, with a positive outcome for this beautiful country.

Cattleya Mossiae, Venezuela
Ok, not to completely undermine the meaning of today, I give you these beautiful orchids to behold :) Many thanks to Luis Alberto, who introduced me to the national flower of Venezuela - Cattleya mossiae or more commonly known as flor de Mayo ("May flower") or easter orchid.
Enjoy your Valentines ;)16. 04. 2014.

Vintage Donkeys - Venezuela
It was quite the story with the ebay-donkeys...i only expected to see the 'usual' countries: Spain, Greece, Italy...so i had this pile in my hands, and was going thru it, and was really happy :) and then the last card came along and i had to rub my eyes to believe the surprise: a vintage w&s card from Venezuela! After sobering up and checking the front, another quite bizzare surprise - the person the card was addressed to is Agi!!!
This card was sent on 15/11/73 to an address in Germany :)14. 06. 2011.
UNESCO - Canaima National Park, Venezuela

This is what i missed when i returned home (too early) from my trip to South America! My dear friend was so kind to send me my 1st written & stamped card from Venezuela :) i am just missing a cancellation! it travelled for three months, i was so happy when it arrived XD
La Gran Sabana (the great savanna) is situated in the south-east Venezuela, extending to the borders with Brazil and Guyana, and is part of the second largest National Park in Venezuela, the Canaima National Park. The park, with its size of ca. 30 000 square kilometers, is the 6th largest national park in the world. It lies on a plateau and is dotted with huge table-top mountains called tepuis. Its main attraction is surely Salto Angel (angel falls), the world's highest waterfall; this postcard shows Salto Aponguao. (so little info online for such grand falls).
