UNESCO - Kluane National Park And Reserve, Canada

Kluane National Park and Reserve is part of one of those 'complicated' whs sites, namely Kluane/Wrangell-St. Elias/Glacier Bay/Tatshenshini-Alsek which beside Kluane comprises three other national parks, which again as a whole boast an impressive complex of glaciers and high peaks on both sides of the border between Canada (Yukon Territory and British Columbia) and the United States (Alaska). The spectacular natural landscapes are home to many grizzly bears, caribou and Dall's sheep. The site contains the largest non-polar icefield in the world.

The first postcard shows Mount Logan, standing at 5595 metres, which makes it the highest mountain in Canada and 2nd highest in North America. On the second are the aforementioned Dall Sheep, also known as thinhorn sheep, native to northwestern North America. As always a great swap with Jason, thank you :)

Madeira Lavadas

Levadas are irrigation channels or aqueduct specific to the island of Madeira, that originated out of the necessity of bringing large amounts of water from the west and northwest of the island to the drier southeast, which is more conducive to habitation and agriculture, such as sugar cane production. In the past they were also used by women to wash clothes in areas where running water to homes was not available. The idea of this style of water channel was brought to Portugal by the Moors during the time of al-Andalus (or Muslim Iberia).

To be honest I had no idea to this moment what exactly these images show lol, I just thought they are beautiful and reflect my wish to come back to the island for some nature trekking. Moreover, I matched a Madeira nature stamp only to learn it is also of a levada, the 25 Fontes.

Glacier Tramping In New Zealand

After watching a debate on TV about censoring the hate speech on social media, and then continuing to have this debate amongst ourselves, a relaxing view like this was very much needed. Sometimes I really wish to get away from it all, the human primitivity that still very much exists under a cloak of technological progress. New Zealand definitely springs to mind as the final destination..! Though I'd probably never climb a glacier. My adventures are limited to surviving in my own country.
Once again thanks goes to Tianyi Shi :)

Surabaya Mangrove Forest, Indonesia

Another summery postcard...Surabaya is the capital of Jawa Timur (East Java), located on northeastern Java island and along the edge of the Madura Strait and the second-largest-city in Indonesia. The surrounding area is known for mangrove tourism, there being two forests with organised tours: Kelurahan Wonorejo and Kelurahan Gunung Anyar. Which one this is its hard to tell. The colours are lovely though. Thanks to Andrea :)

Wild Nature Of Guyane

I must admit I am a bit confused with the Guianas...lucky that the Dutch Guiana became Suriname heh, French Guiana is often called just Guiana, or Guyane in french...whereas Guyana is just Guyana, though it was British Guaina once...there IS a slight difference in pronunciation!
Jo used great stamps alas one was stolen, and because they are self-adhesive the other cards kept sticking to it..! I really start to wonder about this thief, what can you possibly do with a torn self-adhesive stamp? Oh well...one thing is sure - merci Jo :)
