Silvered Leaf Langur, Malaysia

Silvered Leaf Langur or Silvery Lutung is an Old World monkey native to Malaysia. Baby langurs are incredibly cute with their bright orange fur! Since collecting animal postcards I am learning to like monkeys - such interesting creatures, I hope to meet some in the wild soon :) Thank you Erica for this swap!

Moose, USA

A handsome moose, thank you Bryon :))

'The moose is solitary in summer, but several may gather near streams and lakes to feed on willows and aquatic vegetation. It is a good swimmer and when tormented by mosquitos and black flies, will submerge to roll itself in a wallow to acquire a protective coating of mud.'

Bull And Egrets, China

I like the composition of this photo - as the bull is peacefully grazing the egrets are waiting for the 'side-effects' of this action, the insects and small vertebrate prey disturbed by it. I have observed this symbiosis often while travelling thru south america :) this card however was sent to me from China, thanks vickietsai!

Fox, Russia

This beautiful picture of a fox is a tagged postcard - thank you Ekaterina for this addition to my collection, and the beautiful stamps! One is commemorating 200 years of Venezuela's independance, and the gorgeous regal orb belonged to the Russian tsar Boris Godunov and later to the ruler Michael I Fjodorovič of the Romanovs.

Vigilant Meerkat, UK

Another country that i am in love with and can never get enough of its (official or else) postcards :) And to make it even more satisfying - an excellent stamp, from the recent issue dedicated to the children's book illustration & TV programme Thomas The Tank Engine :)

The meerkat is just adorable! The 1st in my animal collection.

The meerkat or suricate is a small mammal from the mongoose family. Their natural habitat is the desert area of the southwest Africa. They live in clans of 20-30 members (sometimes even 50), and live 12-14 years on average. They live in large underground networks which they leave only during the day. Meerkats are very social and altruistic animals, always helping out each other! Maybe we could learn something from them :=D

I do have a 'list' of my favourite animals but i also want to 'meet' as many different species as possible - am even considering to collect every single mammal card ever issued! Wow it sounds scary even as i write it..xD

So here is the immensely cute siberian flying squirrel (pteromys volans), which can be found in the vast area from the Baltic sea in the west to the pacific coast in the east.  Its the only species of flying squirrel found in Europe! They are shy nocturnal animals, and therefore rarely seen. But i'll keep my eyes open if or when i go to the northern places :)
