Icelandic Nature Delights

More views of the beautiful Iceland, images that we can easily associate with this enigmatic island of the far north: aurora borealis during the great solar storm in March of 2012, 40-meter-high Seljalandsfoss waterfall on the south, and eruption of the Fimmvorduhals volcano in 2010. Lovely stamps, including Europa :))

Aurlandsfjorden, Norway

This beautiful photo represents the Aurlandsfjord in Norway's (south)west, a 29-km long neighbour of the better-known Naeroyfjord (anyone can help me figure out the easiest way to insert international characters?). Thank you Trond :)

Absolut Vodka, Taiwan

Still so rarely coming across the fab Absolut Vodka ads...very thankful to Yi-Ju for sending these :) (There are actual holes in the 'spy' version ;))

UNESCO - Rice Terraces Of The Philippine Cordilleras

The Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras is an outstanding example of an evolved, living cultural landscape - for 2000 years they have followed the contours of the mountains in the remote areas of the northern island Luzon, expressing sacred traditions and a delicate social balance of Ifugao ethnic group.
The inscribed property consists of five clusters, two of which can be seen here - the Batad and Bangaan terrace clusters. I think these views are absolutely amazing, and I have Jan to thank for them :))

UNESCO - Bourges Cathedral, France

The cathedral of St Etienne of Bourges was built in the 12-13th centuries and is one of the great masterpieces of Gothic art, especially its tympanum, sculptures and stained-glass windows.
This card is a great example of a happy postcrossing experience - I was tagged and had no idea what I'm going to get, in the end I loved the card and the great stamp and kind words, its everything one could wish for! Merci beaucoup Elisa :))

UNESCO - Archaeological Site Of Troy, Turkey

A replica, or rather a version of the famous Trojan Horse welcomes visitors at the entrance to Troy, one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world. Got this card thanks to a private swap with Ezgi/melodia_ :)

The extensive remains of 4000-years-old Troy are the most significant demonstration of the first contact between the civilizations of Anatolia and the Mediterranean world, and of great importance for understanding the development of European civilization at a critical stage in its early development. It is the siege of Troy by Spartan and Achaean warriors from Greece in the 13-12th cent. BC that was famously immortalised by Homer in The Iliad.
I have been looking for a broader aerial view of Troy for a long time, until this private swap with Onder who also used amazing stamps, thanks so much! :)

UNESCO - Historic Centre Of Prague II

As I have many postcards of the wonderful Prague it would be a shame not to post them here just because I did one post on it a long time ago :) The St. Vitus Cathedral with its stained glass windows is an amazing sight, as is the view on and of the numerous bridges, I think all would agree..! I have Radana, Ana and Nat to thank for the last two cards :))

City Lights

Another movie card for today, a scene from Chaplin's romantic comedy City Lights (1931)  - here is the moment when The Tramp falls in love with a blind flower girl. To this day it remains to be one of the most successful and influential Chaplin movies. Merci Veronique :)
