Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Halifax (or Halifax Regional Municipality) is the capital of Nova Scotia and the largest population centre in Atlantic Canada.  Its located almost exactly halfway between the Equator and the North Pole. HRM plays host to a wide variety of festivals, is a significant film-production centre, and is considered by many to be the cultural centre of the Maritimes.

Nova Scotia is one of Canada's three Maritime provinces on the Atlantic Coast, with population just under a million. Its The Bay of Fundy has the highest tidal range in the world - Burntcoat Head in the Minas Basin has the greatest mean spring range with 14.5 metres and an extreme range of 16.3 metres.
